|LCDR Emily Y. Royse
Lieutenant Commander Emily Royse was raised in South Pasadena, California. Upon graduation from high school, she enlisted in the Navy as an Electronics Technician. Selected for the Seaman to Admiral Program in 2000, she attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and was commissioned as an Ensign in 2003.
Prior to commissioning, LCDR Royse completed enlisted tours of duty at Naval Air Station New Orleans, Naval Air Station Norfolk, Naval Security Group Activity Northwest, and aboard USS LABOON (DDG-58).
Her first commissioned assignment was aboard USS MAHAN (DDG-72) where she served twenty seven months as the Electrical Officer.
In September 2005, LCDR Royse reported aboard USS OAK HILL (LSD-51) as the Combat Information Center Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. During her eighteen month tour, she made two deployments to the Horn of Africa to conduct counter-piracy operations.
LCDR Royse’s shore duty assignment was to the staff of Commander, Operational Test and Evaluation Force (COMOPTEVFOR) in April 2007. As an Operational Test Director, she planned and executed testing of the Ship Self Defense System on CVN-76, LHD-7, and LPD-17 class of ships.
Following six months in Newport, Rhode Island for Department Head School, LCDR Royse reported in May 2011 to USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD-17) as the Combat Systems Officer. She completed a follow-on tour in Sasebo, Japan as the Current Operations Officer (N3) on the Staff of Commander, Ambibious Squadron ELEVEN in August 2013.
