Lieutenant Commander Andria L. Slough Commanding Officer (May 2010 - April 2011) |

LCDR Andria Slough was commissioned in 1998 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ocean Engineering. Immediately assigned to the Forward Deployed Naval Forces in Yokosuka, Japan, she served as the Combat Information Center Officer, and later the Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer, onboard USS O’BRIEN (DD 975). While in the Southeastern Asia Area of Operations, she participated in several multi-national exercises including SHAREM, FOAL EAGLE, ULTRA FOCUS LENS, TANDEM THRUST and a CARAT eployment. In 1999 she was named the Pacific Fleet Shiphandler of the Year.
At the conclusion of her tour in Seventh Fleet, she received orders to the Pre-Commissioning Crew of USS BULKELEY (DDG 84), and served as the Fire Control Officer for nearly two years. In December 2001 the BULKELEY was commissioned in New York City and on the ship’s maiden voyage to the Caribbean, she participated in the operational testing of the Aegis Weapon System, culminating in 13 successful SM-2 live missile engagements as a part of the Aegis Combat Systems Qualification Testing and Trials.
Following her initial sea tours, she reported to the Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, VA, as a technical instructor for Prospective Commanding and Executive Officers, and also supported the Fleet development of Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense and headed the LCS/DD(X) Task Force. While assigned to Dahlgren she served an Individual Augmentation tour to the U.S. Central Command Forward Deployed Headquarters in Doha, Qatar. Her primary duties included Naval Operations Planning and Coalition Coordination for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. While ashore she also earned her Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration, Concentration in Intelligence and Security Studies, from the University of Pittsburgh.
After attending the Surface Warfare Officer School Department Head Training Curriculum in Newport, RI, she served or nearly two years as the Weapons Officer onboard USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68), completing one Theater Security Cooperation Deployment to the Mediterranean and Black Seas and several Anti-Submarine Warfare training exercises. LCDR Slough currently serves under the XO/CO Fleet Up Program as the Commanding Officer of the USS DEFENDER (MCM 2).
