Senior Chief Klawitter is a native of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, an esteemed graduate of Unity High School Class of ’88. He entered the Navy through the Delayed Entry Program in September of 1987 and entered active service in June of 1988. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois he reported to Technical Training Center, and Memphis, Tennessee where he completed Aviation Support Equipment Technician Apprenticeship training.
Upon graduation from “A” school he reported to Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) Moffett Field. His fleet assignments include BUPERS SDC detachment Pt. Mugu; U.S. Navy Blue Angels; USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), Fleet Readiness Center South East (FRC) Mayport, and Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) Pensacola, as the Training Officer.
Senior Chief Klawitter is currently serving as the Command Senior Chief of the USS Defender forward deployed out of Sasebo Japan. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Technical Management. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 148, and the Command Master Chief course. He has earned his Enlisted Aviation, Surface Warfare, Master Training Specialist, and has been awarded the United States Apprenticeship Certificate, certified by the United States Department of Labor.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards); Navy Achievement Medal (three awards); Good Conduct Medal (six), and various unit and campaign awards. He is qualified as an Enlisted Aviation and Surface Warfare Specialist.
