LCDR John R.  Mateikat
Executive Officer

Native of California, raised in Florida and Alabama, LCDR Mateikat enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1988 under the Advanced Electronics Field program, served in the enlisted ranks before commissioning as a Limited Duty Officer in 2003, and since 2007 served in the Unrestricted Line.

Operational assignments include USS DENVER Operations Officer, USS LASSEN Chief Engineer, USS TORTUGA Combat Systems Officer, USS FORT MCHENRY Electronics Material Officer, USS ESSEX Weapons Division LCPO, USS BELLEAU WOOD Radar Division LPO, and USS NIMITZ Radar Technician.

Shore assignments include Naval Computers and Telecommunications Station Naples Italy Electronics Material Officer, and Naval Air Technical Training Center Pensacola Instructor.

His career has been highlighted by operational deployments to the Arabian Gulf, East & South China Seas, and Amphibious landings in the Philippines and East Timor as well as Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations in Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines. He has participated in the planning and execution of numerous joint and coalition exercises enhancing theatre security and interoperability throughout the SEVENTH Fleet area of responsibility.

LCDR Mateikat is a qualified Surface Warfare Officer, Master Training Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from Regents College and a Master’s degree in Human Relations from Oklahoma University. His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and several other unit and service awards.
