|LCDR William J. Carroll
LCDR Carroll is a native of Lusby, Maryland. He was commissioned in 2005 through the Naval ROTC program at The Citadel, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He also earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies through the Naval War College in 2011.
His initial sea tour was on USS Barry (DDG 52) as Auxiliaries Officer and First Lieutenant. He also served on USS O’Kane (DDG 77) as Navigator, and on USS McFaul (DDG 74) as Chief Engineer. He has participated in numerous international exercises, completed deployments to the 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleet Areas of Responsibility, and completed two Board of Inspection and Survey assessments.
Ashore, LCDR Carroll was an Operations and Tactics analyst with Surface Analysis Branch for Evaluation and Reporting (SABER) at the Nimitz Operations Intelligence Center. He also taught Basic Navigation, Advanced Navigation, and Naval Warfare at the Naval Academy.
He was selected for Early Command in April 2014, and served as the Executive Officer of USS Warrior. He assumed command in December 2016.
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three), Navy and Achievement Medal (two), and various unit and service awards.
