USS Avenger (MCM 1) was commissioned Sept. 12, 1987 and is forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan. Avenger reports to the Commander, Amphibious Force 7th Fleet, Rear Adm. Jeffrey A. Harley, headquartered in White Beach, Okinawa, Japan.
