GMCS (SW) Cumings
Commanding Senior Chief (September 2010 - October 2011)

Senior Chief Cumings, a native of Taylor, Texas, enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1992. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California he reported to Naval Training Center, San Diego, California where he completed Airman Apprenticeship Training.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty to the USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62), and designated as a Gunner’s Mate Gun. His fleet assignments include USS DAVID R. RAY (DD-971), USS JOHN S. MCCAIN (DDG-56), USS GARY (FFG-51) and USS SAN JACINTO (CG-56). In addition, Senior Chief Cumings completed shore assignments at Naval Activities Guam, Fleet Combat Training Center, Atlantic, Dam Neck, Virginia and Recruit Company and Division Commander, Recruit Training Command Great Lakes.
Senior Chief Cumings is currently serving as the Command Senior Chief and Senior Enlisted Advisor with USS AVENGER (MCM-1), Sasebo, Japan. Additionally, Senior Chief Cumings is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 147 (GRAY) and has earned his Distinguished Leadership Award and Master Training Specialist designations.
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
