LCDR Adrian Barefield, who hails from Houston, Texas, began as a Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class in the nuclear power training pipeline in 1994. He was awarded an NROTC scholarship and graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and was commissioned in August of 2000.
His first duty station as an officer was USS CORONADO (AGF 11) in San Diego, California where he served as Propulsion Division Officer. His tours include Damage Control Assistant in USS HOWARD (DDG 83); Afloat Training Group, Pacific as a Training Liaison Officer; Engineer Officer in USS JARRETT (FFG 33); Material and Readiness Officer in COMDESRON 7, embarked in USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76); and Navigator in USS PELELIU (LHA 5).
He also earned his Master of Science in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego in 2007 and served as the Sonar Department Head at Fleet ASW Training Center in 2014.
