LCDR Jennifer Forbus, who hails from Tucson, Arizona, began as an unrated airman stationed with VP 23 in Brunswick, Maine where she served as a Plane Handler. She then transferred to Air Traffic Controller “A” School in Millington, TN where she successfully completed “A” school and was designated as an Air Traffic Controller. Her first duty station as an Air Traffic Controller was Lemoore, California where she quickly qualified as a Control Tower Supervisor and advanced to Second Class Petty Officer. She was commissioned as an Ensign upon graduation from Officer Candidate School in June of 1998, through the Seaman to Admiral Program (Legacy). She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of San Diego in May 2005.
Her first duty station as an officer was USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68) in Mayport, Florida where she served as Electrical Officer and deployed to FIFTH FLEET in support of U.N. Sanctions against Iraq. Her tours include Assistant Operations Officer/Training & Readiness Officer with COMDESRON 7, embarked in USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64); to USS THACH (FFG 43) as Chief Engineer; MCM CREW EXULTANT embarked USS WARRIOR (MCM 10) in Ingleside, TX and San Diego, CA and USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13) forward deployed in Bahrain, where she served as Executive Officer and subsequently fleeted up and served as the Commanding Officer.
She also served at Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center (ECRC) San Diego, where she deployed to Iraq as part of USF-I, J9 in support of Operation New Dawn. In February 2012, she reported to Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego where she was the Battle Watch Captain and Current Operations Officer for the Mine Warfare Commander N3.
