Commander William J. Harting
Executive Officer

CDR Harting is from Pontiac, Michigan. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated with a BS in Computer Science in 2000.

He served as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer on USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He then completed Naval Nuclear Propulsion training in Charleston, South Carolina, and was assigned as a Reactor Propulsion Division Officer on USS NIMITZ in San Diego, California.  He was a Nuclear Training Officer for Navy Recruiting Region East in Millington, Tennessee. During this tour, he completed a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. His Department head tours include First Lieutenant on USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45) followed by Operations Officer on USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2), both in stationed in San Diego. Following his department head tours, he was an instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy and then he completed a joint tour at NATO Rapid Deployment Corps, Milan, Italy.

CDR Harting lives in San Diego, California, with his wife Lisa Harting, and their three children.
