USS REUBEN JAMES Celebrates U.S. Navy 236th
USS REUBEN JAMES sailors gathered Tuesday October 13, 2011 to celebrate the Navy’s Birthday.
The crew had a special treat as the Executive Officer CDR Luis Alva served lunch along with LTJG Dyana Dodge and ENS Joshua Roaf. The oldest and youngest sailors cut the birthday cake as CTTC Robert Zimmerman spoke to the crew about the history of the U.S. Navy.
"As the eldest member of Team REUBEN JAMES, I was given the honor of cutting the Navy's 236th birthday cake. While waiting for crew members to arrive at the cake cutting ceremony, I had an opportunity to reflect on my 24-years in uniform.” Said CWO4 John Walls at the celebration. “I thought about my decision to join, the commands I've served in, the shipmates I've served with, the places I've visited, and maybe most important of all, I thought about the countless opportunities the Navy has provided to me. Opportunities to grow and prosper as a man, husband, father, leader and mentor."
