|Commander Clinton D. Beck
Chief Staff Officer
Commander Beck is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. He was commissioned in 1990 upon graduation from Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI.
Upon completion of Surface Warfare Division Officer School and various follow-on schools, Beck reported for duty aboard the USS Savannah (AOR-4) in 1992. He served as the Administrative/Legal Officer for one year and then as the Auxiliaries/Cargo Fuels Officer for the remainder of his tour. While aboard the Savannah, he achieved numerous watch officer qualifications including his Surface Warfare Officer designation. Beck transitioned to the Navy Reserve in 1999.
Beck began his Navy Reserve career with Naval Embarked Advisory Team DET 218, Omaha, NE where he had various assignments leading up to Executive Officer. He then joined Battle Group Staff TWO, Newport, RI where he served two years in the Training Department becoming the Assistant Training Officer and one in Operations where he developed exercise scenarios using Multi-Mission Tactical Trainers at SWOS Department Head School. In 2003, Beck joined USFFC DET 106, Norfolk, VA where he served as the Computer Based Training Coordinator. FY05 APPLY Board selected Beck as OIC of NR PHIB CB 2 DET 105 in Pittsburgh, PA where he led 24 other Seabees in support of Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO. Beck’s next assignment was to Navy Warfare Development Command, DET 101 in Newport, RI, where he aspired to Executive Officer though the most junior Commander in the unit. Beck currently serves as the Executive Officer of NR COMEXSTRIKEGRU 7, St. Louis, Missouri.
Beck has contributed to numerous exercises in significant roles. He just completed Cobra Gold 10 as the Operations Officer. For Trident Warrior-09 he served as Operations Officer for the Global Fleet Station. JEFX-08 saw him as the sole Navy representative to the AOC at 8th Air Force, Barksdale. With PHIBCB2, he served as the Administrative Officer for DELMAR 05. With USFFC, he served in Unified Defense 04 as part of the Joint Forces Maritime Component Commander (JFMCC) watch team. During Unified Endeavor 03-2 he provided support to the Naval Forces Commander as Liaison Officer to the Joint Task Force Commander (CJTF-35). COMPTUEX and JTFEX 02-02, he supported Cruiser Destroyer Group Two as the Staff N4.
Beck is authorized to wear the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards) and various other personal and unit service awards. He completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I in 2005.
In his civilian career, Beck is a Projects Manager for ExxonMobil Pipeline Company, based in Everett, MA.
