Captain Marc D. Boran
Chief Of Staff (March 2017 - June 2017)

Captain Boran is a native of Jupiter, Florida. A 1994 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Science. Additionally, he is a graduate of the United States Naval War College as well as the Eisenhower School.

He served in Ships homeported on the East and West Coast as well as in Japan, and has deployed to all the operational fleets. He served as First Division Officer and Three Main Machinery Division Officer in USS INDEPENDENCE (CV 62); as Navigator in USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57); as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64), Air Defense Commander for ENTERPRISE Carrier Strike Group in support of operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM; and as Executive Officer in USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99), deployed to the U.S. Southern Command Area of Focus supporting Partnership of the America’s. He was Commanding Officer USS CARNEY (DDG 64) from November 2011 to July 2013, in support of counter-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden and guiding the ship through the first DDG BMD 4.0 program installation, the basic training cycle and INSURV. During his tour CARNEY earned the Battle Efficiency and the Golden Anchor Awards.

Shore assignments included duty on the staff of Commander, Amphibious Group THREE as a Group Scheduler and Flag Secretary; Flag Secretary for the Superintendent at the United States Naval Academy; and Surface Placement Branch Head, Navy Personnel Command in Millington, Tennessee. He most recently served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness as the Assistant Director for Joint Officer Management Policy and as the Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense of Personnel and Readiness.

Captain Boran’s decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), and is authorized to wear various theater/service medals and ribbons.
