Native of Albuquerque, New Mexico CDR Drew Thomson graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. CDR Thomson served in USS GARY (FFG 51) as Auxiliaries Officer and as Combat Information Center Officer in USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52). As a Department Head, he served as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91). Upon completion of his Department Head assignment, CDR Thomson reported to the staff Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN, embarked on USS NIMITZ, where he served as Surface Strike Officer.
His shore assignments include Afloat Training Group, Pacific as a cruise missile assessor, and as Aide to the Program Director, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (PD-452).
CDR Thomson is a graduate of the Naval War College and holds a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and numerous unit and campaign awards.
