      Operations Specialist Chief Petty Officer David M. McElroy was born in Boston, MA.  He enlisted in the Navy in December 1995 and attended recruit training in Great Lakes, IL.  He attended Operations Specialist “A” School at Dam Neck, VA in March 1996.  Upon completion he graduated top of his class and was awarded accelerated advancement to Petty Officer Third Class. 
      He was first assigned to USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) home ported in San Diego and then Yokosuka Japan from June 1996 to July 2001 where he advanced to Second Class Petty Officer.  He earned his ESWS and EAWS qualifications as well as the Air Intercept Controller NEC.
     In July 2001 he attended Basic Instructor training earning his 9502 NEC before being transferred to Officer Training Command Newport, where he was assigned to the Fire Fighting School as an instructor. While assigned to OTCN he became a Master Training Specialist and was advanced to First Class Petty Officer.
     In September 2004 he transferred to USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) as an Air Intercept Controller and was assigned as Leading Petty Officer of OI Division.   During his tour he attended Air Intercept Controller Supervisor school and volunteered for an IA to Iraq where he was assigned as an Electronic Warfare Officer.
      In July 2008 he transferred to Naval War College in Newport, RI where he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.  He served as Admin LCPO in War Gaming Department.
     In July 2011 he transferred to TACRON TWO ONE as an Air Intercept Controller Supervisor.
