LCDR Robert W. McFarlin
Commanding Officer

LCDR McFarlin was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Denver, Colorado.  He enlisted in the Navy in 1994 and entered Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection Training (BOOST).  After graduating from BOOST he completed one year at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) before transferring to the U. S. Naval Academy where he graduated with a B. S. in Electrical Engineering in 2000.

His first tour of duty was as Damage Control Assistant aboard USS RAVEN (MHC 61) homeported at the “tip of the Spear” in Manama, Bahrain.  His follow-on sea tour was aboard USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) in Norfolk, VA, where he served as Assistant Weapons Officer and Anti-Terrorism Officer. 

In December 2004, LCDR McFarlin transferred ashore as Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the University of Rochester in upstate New York.  While in Rochester he earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration at the Simon School of Business. 

 He returned to sea duty on USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99) serving as Operations Officer during her maiden deployment.  USS FARRAGUT deployed to FOURTH FLEET conducted Partnership of the Americas 2008, circumnavigated South America and captured nearly $60 Million worth of cocaine in counter-narcotic operations.  His second department head tour was as Combat Systems Officer onboard USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58) where he supervised the year-long Cruiser Modification, a complete upgrade of the AEGIS combat system. 

LCDR McFarlin is currently the Commanding Officer of PC Crew HOTEL.  He took command  in January 2011.

His personal awards include the Naval Commendation Medal, Naval Achievement medal, the

U. S. Naval League 2008 leadership award and the Spirit of Newport Leadership Award (DH class 195).
