Commander Orlando S. Bowman
Commander Bowman is a native of Owensboro, Kentucky and is the son of a retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer. He reported to Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida in November of 1989. Commander Bowman received his commission through the Enlisted Commissioning Program. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1999, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice & Criminology.
At sea, he served onboard USS BATTAN (LHD 5) as Gunnery Officer and 2nd Division Officer; USS TORTUGA (LSD 46) as Operation Officer; PC CREW GOLF as Commanding Officer of USS SIROCCO (PC 6), on which he deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
Ashore, Commander Bowman served as Flag Lieutenant to Commander Amphibious Group Two from November 2002-January 2004; EA & Seamanship & Navigation Instructor at the United States Naval Academy from July 2007-July 2009; Placement Officer, Bureau of Naval Personnel from July 2009-December 2010; and Amphibious Module Instructor, Tactical Training Group Atlantic from January 2011-January 2013.
He earned his Masters of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
Commander Bowman assumed the duties as Oak Hill's Executive Officer in September of 2013.
Commander Bowman's decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (three awards) and various campaign and service awards.
Commander Bowman and his wife Stacy have two sons Jacob and Benjamin.
