CMDCM (SW/AW/IDW) Donald Harris
Command Master Chief
Command Master Chief Donald Harris reported to Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida in 1990 and upon graduation, attended Cryptologic Technician (Maintenance) “A” school at Naval Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Florida.
Master Chief Harris’ first assignment as a CTM was at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, San Diego, California as a Fleet Electronic Support (FES) direct support maintainer in 1991. He later rotated to Naval Security Group Activity, Adak, Alaska in 1994 as a member of the decommissioning crew. In 1996, he transferred to Naval Security Group Activity, San Diego, California deploying on multiple combatants to include USS ELLIOT, USS DULUTH, USS TARAWA, USS PELELIU, USS VALLEY FORGE and USCGC MORGENTHAU.
In 2001, Master Chief Harris began his first shore duty assignment at Naval Security Group Activity, Maryland as Leading Petty Officer of the Information Management Office helpdesk and Commander Naval Security Group (CNSG) communications center. He then reported for instructor duty at the Center for Information Dominance, Pensacola, Florida in 2004 and advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
In 2007, Master Chief Harris returned to sea duty onboard PCU GEORGE H. W. BUSH as a Command 3M Coordinator paving the way for senior enlisted CTMs to serve at sea. As a proud plank owner, he helped bring the last of the NIMITZ class carriers to life and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. His next assignment was at Navy Information Operations Command, Norfolk, Virginia in 2010 where he served as the Operations and Electronic Warfare Directorate Leading Chief Petty Officer and advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer. Following this tour, he reported to the Director, Chief of Naval Operations N2/N6, as the CTM rating advisor and was highlighted by his selection as a Command Master Chief in 2013.
Master Chief Harris is qualified as an Enlisted Surface, Aviation, Information Dominance Warfare and Master Training Specialist. He holds degrees from the University of Alaska and Excelsior College and is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (180/Brown) and Command Master Chief courses.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and other various unit and campaign awards.
