Master Chief O’Connor enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1991. After completing Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois, and graduation of Aviation Storekeeper “A” school in Meridian, Mississippi, he was assigned to Patrol Squadron 60 (VP-60) in Glenview, Illinois.

Master Chief O’Connor served onboard USS INCHON (MCS 12), USS DEFENDER (MCM-2), USS BULKELEY (DDG 84), and USS GEORGE H W BUSH (CVN 77).

Shore duty assignments have included: Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) Dallas, Texas assigned to maintenance control division and plank owner at Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Fort Worth, Texas assigned to base supply and asset allocations BRAC committee member. NATO Headquarters-Southeast, Izmir Turkey and Multi National Forces-Iraq, Baghdad Iraq assigned as US Forces supply liaison and Navy personnel Senior Enlisted Leader. COMNAVSURFLANT Norfolk, Virginia assigned to Current Readiness Logistics – Amphibious Afloat Commands.

Master Chief O’Connor’s personal decorations and awards include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (3), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (5), Ben Moreell Award for Logistics Competence and various other service and campaign awards.

Graduate of the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Class 11-A, Command Master/Senior Chief Class114 in Newport, Rhode Island and Hamilton Business College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist and certified as an Afloat Training Specialist.
