Commander Fiona C. Halbritter
CDR Fiona Halbritter is a native of Huntsville, Alabama and a 1999 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She obtained her commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Upon completion of Division Officer School in Newport, R.I., she was assigned to USS TORTUGA (LSD 46) as the 2nd Deck Division Officer. She then served as the Assistant Operations Officer onboard USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC 20).
Following her division officer tours, CDR Halbritter served as a division lead and instructor at the Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) detachment at Dam Neck, VA. Following Department Head School in Newport, RI, she reported to USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) as the Combat Systems Officer and then later became the Training Officer. CDR Halbritter served her second department head tour as Assistant Operations Officer for Commander Amphibious Squadron TWO/BATAAN Strike Group.
In 2009, CDR Halbritter earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA. She then served in Current Operations at Commander, Second Fleet. After Second Fleet’s disestablishment in 2011, she served as a Fleet Watch Officer for US Fleet Forces Command. She then became a Doctrine Analyst at the Joint Staff, J-7 in Suffolk, VA until April 2015.
CDR Halbritter reported to USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44) in October 2015 as the Executive Officer. She fleeted up and took Command of USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44) on 31 March 2017.
