CDR Will Herrmann currently serves as the Executive Officer onboard USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17).

His previous sea tours include, Commanding Officer of USS NEW YORK (LPD 21) from February 2011 to June 2012, Executive Officer of USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41) from October 2007 to November 2009, Materials Officer for Amphibious Squadron EIGHT from April 2004 to February 2006, First LT of USS ESSEX (LHD 2) from October to December 2003, Operations Officer of USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44) from December 2001 to September 2003, and Training Officer, First LT and Damage Control Assistant of USS MITSCHER (DDG 57) from June 1998 to April 2001.

His previous shore tours include, Liaison Officer for US North Command to US Fleet Forces Command Action Officer for Coast Guard Defense Force EAST from December 2009 to July 2010 and Amphibious Warfare Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School from March 2006 to June 2007.

CDR Herrmann graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY in June 1994, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Marine Transportation with a minor in Marine Engineering, a USCG Third Mate license of unlimited tonnage any ocean, and a Qualified Member of the Engineering Department (QMED) with all endorsements. He earned an Masters of Arts degree from the US Naval War College, College of Distance Education, in National Security and Strategic Studies in June 2007.

His personal awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (6 awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards).
