Captain Kevin R. Hagan

After graduating from the United States Naval Academy with a BS in Political Science, LCDR Hagan began his military career in May of 2003, commissioning as an Ensign. LCDR Hagan’s first assignment was in USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) in San Diego, CA as the Interior Communications Division Officer.

While onboard BONHOMME RICHARD, he deployed to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf in 2004-2005. During this deployment, BONHOMME RICHARD conducted humanitarian relief to Indonesia as part of OPERATION UNIFIED ASSISTANCE as well as supporting OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in the Arabian Gulf.

In 2005, LCDR Hagan reported to Destroyer Squadron Two Six (CDS 26) in Norfolk, VA as the Assistant Operations Officer. During this tour, CDS 26 led several major exercises, including BALTOPS 2006 and NEPTUNE WARRIOR 06-3.

In 2007, LCDR Hagan reported to the Naval Post-Graduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA, earning a MS in Information Systems and Operations in March of 2009. His thesis was a historical case study of influence techniques employed by insurgent organizations.

Following graduate school, LCDR Hagan was assigned to Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, RI as an instructor, followed by commencing the Department Head Afloat Course in 2010.

In December 2010, LCDR Hagan was assigned to USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) in Norfolk, VA as the Operations Officer. While onboard RAMAGE, he completed a EUCOM deployment, supporting Ballistic Missile Defense operations in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea in 2011-2012.

Immediately following this tour, LCDR Hagan reported to USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64) in Mayport, FL, serving as Operations Officer and the Air and Missile Defense Liaison to Carrier Strike Group Ten, embarked in USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75). He completed a Strike Group deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM from 2013-2014.

After his Department Head tours, LCDR Hagan was assigned to Navy Personnel Command in Millington, TN as Surface Officer Metrics for PERS-41 (Surface Officer Assignments) from April 2014 to January 2016. In January 2016, he was assigned as the Surface Warfare Community Manager at BUPERS-3 until October 2016.

LCDR Hagan began working on the Joint Staff in the J5 Deputy Directorate for Asia as the Korea Desk Officer in November 2016.

LCDR Hagan has received several decorations and awards including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 4 Gold Stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 4 Gold Stars.

LCDR Hagan is a native of Columbus, OH. He and his wife, have one daughter and two sons.
