MCPO (SW/AW) Terry Wylie
Command Master Chief

Biography ImageCommand Master Chief (SW/AW) Terry Wylie is a native of San Antonio Texas and graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in 1984.

He enlisted in June 1989 and reported for basic training in San Diego. While in basic training he was designated as a Molder (ML).
He completed "A" School and reported to USS EMORY S. LAND (AS-39) where he served as a Molder in the ship's foundry and qualified as Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. He received orders to the USS SHENANDOAH (AD-44) in 1993. En route he attended Molder "J" school where he attained certification as a metallurgist and Journeyman Foundryman.
Upon reporting to the USS SHENANDOAH he took over as the foundry work center supervisor and ultimately became the Leading Petty Officer (LPO). In 1996 he reported to Navy Recruiting District Houston. The Molder rating was disestablished so he laterally converted to Damage Controlman and was promoted to Petty Officer First Class through the Recruiting Excellence Incentive Program (REIP).
In 1999, after completing a successful tour as a Navy Recruiter, he reported aboard the USS SIMPSON (FFG-56) and took over as LPO of Repair Division.  In 2001 he transferred to the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and was advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served as Damage Control Division Leading Chief Petty Officer and qualified Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.
In 2003 he reported to Surface Warfare Officer Command in Rhode Island teaching Damage Control Assistants, Chief Engineers and perspective XOs and
COs Damage Control while completing his qualification as Master Training Specialist. He reported to the USS ASHLAND (LSD-48) in 2006 where he was
promoted to Senior Chief. He qualified Ballasting Officer and Engineering Officer of the Watch. From 2009 to 2012 he served as Director at Farrier
Fire Fighting School at Center for Naval Engineering qualifying as a High Risk Instructor while administering 6 learning sites around the world and
serving as the Senior Course Curriculum Model Manager for 6 high risk courses and 5 Engineering and Damage Control Courses.
He was advanced to Master Chief in 2010. On the USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER (CVN-69) he served as the Engineering Department Master Chief from 2012 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017 he served on USS RAMAGE (DDG-61) as the Command Master Chief. During his career, he completed eight deployments including
the Arabian Gulf, Horn of Africa and Mediterranean Sea.
Master Chief Wylie's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five
awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various service and unit medals.
