Command Master Chief

 

CMDCM(SW/AW) Brian Schlicht was born in Buffalo, New York and graduated from Alden High School in 1986. He enlisted in the Navy in February 1988.

After completing Recruit Training in Orlando, FL, he attended Signalman “A” School. He immediately reported to USS INGERSOLL (DD 990) for his first sea duty assignment. While onboard he completed a deployment to Australia and the Persian Gulf. His other sea duties included USS HARLAN COUNTY (LST 1196), USS ELROD (FFG 55) and USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7).

Ashore, Master Chief Schlicht served at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland as the base Command Master-at-arms, a facilitator at the Naval Leadership Training Unit onboard Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek and the Port Operations Leading Chief Petty Officer at Naval Station Norfolk.

Master Chief Schlicht earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare qualification in May 1993 onboard the USS HARLAN COUNTY (LST 1196) and his Enlisted Air Warfare in September 2006 onboard USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7). Due to the disestablishment of the Signalman rate, he was converted to Quartermaster in January 2003. He graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 119 (Brown) in September 2005.

He graduated in March 2010 from CMC/COB course class 72 and immediately reported to USS LABOON (DDG 58) as the Command Master Chief until April 2012. He reported to USS WASP (LHD1) in May 2012 and assumed duties as the Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Schlicht’s military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (seven awards), and various service and campaign awards.
