Commanding Officer

Lieutenant Commander Roskelly received his commission from Officer Candidate School in March 2000 at Pensacola, Florida. He then attended Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island.

In February 2001 he reported aboard USS BULKELEY (DDG 84) as the pre-commissioning Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. During this tour his time was split between Norfolk, Virginia and Pascagoula, Mississippi.

In October 2003 he reported to USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) as the Fire-Control Officer. During his tour in FITZGERALD he completed a homeport shift from San Diego, California to Yokosuka, Japan.

After completing Department Head School he reported aboard USS SAMUEL B. ROBERTS (FFG 58) in Mayport, Florida as the Combat System’s Officer. Upon detaching “Sammy B” he reported to DESRON FIFTY/CTG 152.1 in Bahrain where he served as the Current Operations Officer and Force Protection Officer.

LCDR Roskelly reported to USS SIMPSON (FFG 56) as Executive Officer in April 2014.

Ashore he reported to FACSFAC San Diego, Southern California Offshore Range (SCORE) as a Range Safety Officer in May 2005. While attached to FACSFAC he completed his Master’s Degree in Management from National University. In November 2011 he attended the Army’s Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth, Kansas and received his Joint Phase Military Education Phase I. In January 2012 he reported to the 618 Air Operations Center (AOC), Air Mobility Command at Scott AFB in Illinois as a Joint Operation’s Officer.

He has deployed to the Caribbean, Western Pacific, and the Arabian Gulf.

Lieutenant Commander Roskelly’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
