Commander Peter Ehlers Commanding Officer

CDR Peter Ehlers is a native of Portsmouth, Va. He is a 1996 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Commission in the U.S. Navy.
CDR Ehlers sea duty tours include; First Lieutenant and Electrical Officer, MCMROTCREW A serving onboard USS GLADIATOR (MCM-11), USS ARDENT (MCM-12) and USS DEXTROUS (MCM-13), Fire Control Officer onboard USS WASP (LHD-1), Combat Systems Officer onboard USS TAYLOR (FFG-50), and Operations Officer onboard USS AUSTIN (LPD-4).
Prior to assuming command of USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY (FFG 49) Commander Ehlers served as Executive Officer in USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY, his shore tours include the Joint Interagency Task Force East (JIATF-E), Key West, Florida and United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Tampa, Florida.
He is a graduate of the Naval War College where he received a Master of Art degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.
His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2), Navy Achievement Medal (2), and numerous unit and service awards
