CMDCS (SW/EXAW) Joseph “Joe” D. Marlow
Command Senior Chief
Born in Ada Oklahoma he graduated from Stratford High School in May of 1996. He enlisted in the Navy and shipped off for recruit basic training on 17 March 1997.
Senior Chief Marlow’s sea duty assignments include USS NICHOLAS (FFG-47) from August 97 -January 2001. During his tour he rose from an undesignated striker in deck division to Quartermaster 2nd Class. During his second sea tour he served onboard USS PELICAN (MHC-53), USS CARDINAL (MHC-60), and USS OSPREY (MHC-51) from August 2003 – July 2006. While on OSREY he was initiated and advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His third operational tour was at Riverine Squadron Two from December 2006 - December 2009. While there he completed two combat tours in Iraq and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
His shore duty assignments include Naval Reserve Center Pensacola, FL where he served as a training department assistant, reserve order writer, and was the Lead Instructor of the Non Prior Service Accession Course (NPSAC). He also served at Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center (ECRC) as the Departmental LCPO and Action Officer to IA missions in Iraq.
His fourth sea duty tour and current assignment is once again on board USS NICHOLAS (FFG-47) where his is serving as the Command Senior Chief.
Along with multiple unit and campaign awards Senior Chief Marlow’s personal awards include; the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and he Good Conduct Medal (four awards). He is qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, and Petty Officer in Charge of a Small Craft.
He holds an Associate of Applied Science from Coastline Community College, he is an honor graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 150/Gold, and a graduate of the Command Leadership School.
