Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, LCDR Lee Scoratow graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and was commissioned through the Navy ROTC in May 1997.
His first Division Officer Tour was in USS ELROD (FFG 55) (homeported in Norfolk, VA) as Communications Officer. Following that he went to Yokosuka, Japan and served as Aft Propulsion Group Division Officer in USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63). Following that, he earned his Masters Degree in National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA in December 2002.
Lee’s served two tours as Chief Engineer, both in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, first in USS CROMMELIN (FFG 37) then in USS CHOSIN (CG 65). He completed his Department Head tours in 2006.
His follow on shore tours include two years at the Navy International Program Office in Washington DC from 2006-2008, a year deployed to the staff of the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa in Djibouti from 2008-2009, and two years on the Joint Staff in Washington DC from 2009-11.
Lee reported to NICHOLAS in March 2012 to serve as Executive Officer. In addition to Campaign and Unit Awards, Lee has earned two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, and two Navy Achievement Medals.
