ITCS (SW) Lee C. Friedlander was born in Miami Florida, and graduated from NMB Senior High School in 1988. Enlisted in the United States Navy May 1990 and early on demonstrated a level of excellence that would follow him throughout his career. Graduated Honorman from bootcamp, and promoted to Seaman Apprentice. He attended Radiomen “A” school and Teletype Repair “C” school graduating top of his class. After 6 months onboard USS Deyo (DD-989), advanced to Radioman Third Class. Qualifying as Chief Watch Officer and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, he was promoted to Radioman Second Class in the Fall of 1992.

May 1995 to May 1998, he served at Naval Computer Telecommunications Area Master Station Naples Italy, qualifying as the Chief of the Watch supervising all cutovers during the commissioning of the new Capodichino Technical Control Facility C4I. Transferred to Headquarters Land South Verona Italy from May 1998 to Jan 2001, operating, the Command Control Center in support of communications for Bosnia Herzegovina. He was promoted to Information Systems Technician First Class.

Stationed at US Southern Command Miami Florida from Jan 2001 to Jan 2004 as the Local Area Network Administrator for the Analysis and Simulations Directorate, he was responsible for the upgrade, configuration, maintenance and deployment of the Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulations network to and from South America in support of multi-million dollar exercises. In September of 2001, he was selected for advancement to Information Systems Technician Chief.

Serving on board the USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG-81) from Jan 2004 to February 2007 as the Leading Chief Petty Officer, directly responsible for all; External Communications, Electronic Keying Material Systems and Local Area Networks. May 2006, he attained the rank of Information Systems Technician Senior Chief and attended the Senior Enlisted Academy, being selected as Blue Team Honor Graduate.

Stationed at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic from April 2007 to June 2011, he continued to provide mentorship, Deck-plate Leadership and expertise throughout the command. As the Top Three Association president, Command Causality Assistance Calls Officer, Moral Welfare and Recreation president and Leading Chief Petty Officer for Network, Software, and Information Assurance, his knowledge and leadership will be recognized for years to come. Personally selected by Command Master Chief Naval Station Norfolk, he led 22 tenant commands, 38 Chief Selectee’s leading 450 genuine Chief Petty Officers through the 2010 CPO Induction Season, receiving numerous accolades including Force Master Chief McClure, Force Master Chief Powers and Fleet Master Chief Stevens. May 2010 he completed his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management with Honors.

In May 2011 Senior Chief Friedlander was selected for Command Senior Chief. He was assigned to the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Ft Bliss Texas from July 2011 to July 2012.

Throughout his career he has received various personal awards including; the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (Two Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Three Awards), Good Conduct Medal (Six Awards), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (Five Awards), and Overseas Service Ribbon (Six Awards).

In addition to his in-rate training, his civilian education consists of a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management with Honors from American Military University, MBA in Leadership with Honors from Excelsior College, CompTIA Security+ Certification and Microsoft Windows 7 Certification.
