Commander Megan A. Thomas
CDR Megan Thomas earned her commission through the Pennsylvania State University NROTC program in 1997. Her first sea tour was aboard USS MILIUS (DDG 69) as the Ordnance Officer and Fire Control Officer. Following her completion of nuclear training, she transferred to USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) and served as a Machinery Division Officer. She then served as OCS Distribution Branch Head at Commander, Navy Recruiting Command Headquarters in Millington, Tennessee, and was subsequently detailed to USS MITSCHER (DDG 57) as the Operations Officer. Her follow-on department head tour was aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) as the Main Propulsion Assistant. Additionally, she served as a member of the Commander’s Action Group at Commander, Naval Surface Force, Atlantic and most recently completed a tour as a Surface Warfare Officer Detailer at Navy Personnel Command.
CDR Thomas earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals (3), and the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2).
