Commander John A Krisciunas is a 1996 graduate of the Washington State University/University of Idaho NROTC program. He completed his initial Surface Warfare Officer training in Newport Rhode Island. He is a 2005 graduate of the U.S. Naval War College earning his Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.

John Krisciunas’ initial sea assignment was aboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD-6) where he was a plank owner. His billets included Electrical Officer; CIC officer, Auxiliaries Officer and Internal Communications Officer. Upon completion of his division officer tours he proceeded to Department Head training in 2000. He served two tours aboard USS CARNEY (DDG-64) as Weapons Officer and subsequently Combat Systems Officer.

Upon completion of his Department Head tours in 2004 he attended the Naval War College. His following duty was at the U.S. NORTHERN COMMAND J5 Directorate Washington DC detachment as a Joint Planner. During his Joint tour he was selected for Early Command and reported to USS CHIEF (MCM-14) in Nov 2007 and subsequently assumed command of USS ARDENT (MCM-12) forward deployed in the 5th Fleet AOR.

Following his command tours in 2009 he reported to OPNAV N86 as a requirements officer and in 2010 was selected for a congressional fellowship and served as Military Aide to a U.S. Congressman until January 2012.
