Command Master Chief Holmes enlisted in the Navy immediately after graduation high school.

He completed Recruit Training Command followed by Airman Apprentice Training, he reported to his first command USS SARATOGA (CV 60), where he struck and was advanced to Aviation Ordnanceman Third Class.

Master Chief Holmes’ previous sea duty includes tours on USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), USS BATAAN (LHD 5), USS WASP (LHD 1), and USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77).

Ashore, Master Chief Holmes was stationed at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL and Naval Safety Center.  He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (class 183 Green) and the CMC/COB (class 137) course in Newport, R. I.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Good Conduct Medal (six awards), along with numerous unit and campaign awards.
