Commander Pearson enlisted in the Navy in 1986 serving as an Interior Communications Technician in USS JACKSONVILLE (SSN 699) and USS CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI (SSN 705) before being selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1994. He is a graduate of the University of North Florida, and received his commission in 1996.

Commander Pearson began his initial tour of duty aboard USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56), where he served as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer. He next reported to USS KLAKRING (FFG 42) as Navigator and Admin Officer.

Following completion of his afloat division officer tours, Commander Pearson earned his Master’s of Business Administration from Troy State University while serving as Missile Systems Officer at Fleet Combat Training Center, Dam Neck, VA.

As Department Head, he served as Weapons and Combat Systems Officer in USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79), before joining the shore staff of Naval Mine & ASW Warfare Command as the N8 Requirements Officer. Most recently, he served as the surface and sub-surface warfare advisor on the CNO’s Sonar Integrated Coordinating Group at U.S. Fleet Forces Command.

Commander Pearson served as Executive Officer onboard USS BAINBRIDGE from November 2011 to April 2013. He assumed command of USS BAINBRIDGE on April 25th, 2013.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign service awards.
