Commander Martin L. Robertson, a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, enlisted in the Navy as an Interior Communications Electrician in 1988. He was commissioned in 1998 after selection via the Seaman to Admiral Program and graduation from Officer Candidate School. He graduated from Old Dominion University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and from the American Military University in 2011 with a Master of Arts degree in Military Studies.
Commander Robertson has served on numerous ships to include enlisted tours in USS WAINWRIGHT (CG 28) and USS NICHOLAS (FFG 47); Assistant CIC Officer and Strike Warfare Officer in USS NORMANDY (CG 60); Chief Engineer in USS PIONEER (MCM 9), USS ROSS (DDG 71) and with the Forward Deployed Naval Forces in USS COWPENS (CG 63); and as Executive Officer in USS RENTZ (FFG 46).
Ashore, Commander Robertson served as an Action Officer on the staff of Allied Joint Forces Command Naples, and as a Battle Watch Captain/Fleet Watch Officer at U.S. Second Fleet and U.S. Fleet Forces Command. He most recently was the Officer in Charge of Center for Surface Combat Systems Detachment Mayport.
Commander Robertson’s military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various other unit and campaign awards.
