Commander Samantha A. DutilyCommanding Officer
Commander Samantha Dutily is a native of Waltham, Massachusetts, and a 1997 graduate of Regis College in Weston, MA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. She received her commission in January 2000 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL.
She completed her initial Division Officer tours in San Diego, CA aboard USS JOHN YOUNG (DD 973), serving as Gunnery and Strike Officer and USS MUSTIN (DDG 89) serving as the Training Officer. From 2004-2006, she completed her shore tour as N333 Current Surface Operations and later as administrative assistant to Deputy Chief of Staff N3/N5 at U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, VA. Here she earned her master’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University. After Department Head Training, she successfully completed tours as an Operations Officer aboard USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51), and USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56), both homeported in Norfolk, VA.
Ashore, CDR Dutily completed her assignments at Maritime Civil Affairs and Security Training (MCAST) Command in Dam Neck, VA, serving as Operations Officer and later as Director of Training. Her subsequent tours were at Afloat Training Group Norfolk, VA serving as a Tactical Action Officer mentor/evaluator, followed by a tour as Deputy Executive Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, VA. She recently served as Executive Officer onboard USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79) in Norfolk, VA from March 2016 to July 2017.
CDR Dutily's personal decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2) and various unit and campaign awards.
