CMDCM (SW/AW/IDW) Jorge L. Soto
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Soto is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico. He enlisted in the Navy through the delayed entry program in June 1993 as an Electronic Warfare Technician. Upon graduation from Recruit Training Command in Orlando, FL, he attended Electronic Warfare Technician “A” and “C” School at Naval Technical Training Center, Corry Station in Pensacola, FL.
Duty assignments at sea include the commissioning crew of USS MITSCHER (DDG-57) and two tours on USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN-75) in Norfolk, VA. While on USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN-75), he completed a 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010 Arabian Gulf deployments in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, and ENDURING FREEDOM. His most recent sea tour was Commander CARRIER STRIKE GROUP TWO, embarked on USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN-77) completing a seven month deployment in support of Operations NEW DAWN and ENDURING FREEDOM.
Ashore he completed tours of duty as a recruiter at Navy Recruiting District New York, Center for Information Dominance Site Norfolk, and Navy Information Operations Command Norfolk. He completed an Individual Augmentation tour to Joint Composite CREW Squadron One in Camp Taji, Iraq is support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in 2007.
He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 182/Gray Group). He holds an Associate of Science in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College.
Command Master Chief Soto was selected to Master Chief in 2013 and into the Command Master Chief program in 2014 completing the CMC/COB course in September 2014 (Class 135). He is currently the Command Master Chief of USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG-79).
His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Army Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
