CMDCM (SW/AW) James E. Williams
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Williams entered the Navy in January 1989, attending Recruit Training at RTC San Diego, California in January 1989.
He reported to his first sea tour on board the USS NEW JERSEY (BB 62) in March 1989. Assigned to deck department, 1st Division as deck seamen, he completed a Western Pacific and later decommissioned the NEW JERSEY in 1991. He was then transfered to the USS JARRETT (FFG 33) were he was assigned to 1st Division. Here he participated in Operation Desert Storm, completed two Western Pacific deployments, recieved his Enlisted Surface Warfare qualifications and was advanced to Boatswains' Mate Second Class.
Detaching from USS JARRETT in spring 1993, he reported for duty Navy Recruiting District Minneapolis, Minnesota for duties as a Recruiter for Naval Recruiting Station St. Cloud, Minnesota and advanced to Boatswains' mate First Class in October 1995. After his successful tour of recuiting duty, he transfered to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Assigned as First LT. he achieved his Craftmaster qualifications and advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 1997.
Upon completion of his tour in Hawaii, he reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes in June 1999 for duty as a Recuit Division Commander. Successfully training six recuit divisions, he obtained his Master Training Specialist qualification and transfered to USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61) in October 2001. Onboard INGRAHAM he completed a Western Pacific deployment, assumed the duties as Operations department Leading Chief Petty Officer and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer in March 2003.
Detaching the INGRAHAM in October 2004, he then reported to USS ABRAHAM LINCOLIN (CVN 72) as Deck Leading Chief Petty Officer. Here he completed two Western Pacific deployments, achieved his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Qualification, graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 121) and was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in April 2006. Selected for the Command Master Chief Program, he completed COmmand Master Chief School in Newport , Rhode Island and reported for duty as Command Master Chief for VFA-137 in October 2006.
Following his tour as Command Master Chief for VFA-137, Master Chief Williams reported to Military Sealift Fleet Support Command (MSFSC) Norfolk, Virginia for duty as Command Master Chief.
Masther Chief Williams' awards include six Navy And Marine Corps Commendation Medals, One Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and various other naval campaign and service awards.
