Commander Samantha A. DutilyExecutive Officer
Commander Samantha Dutily is a native of Waltham, Massachusetts, and a 1997 graduate of Regis College in Weston, MA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. She received her commission in January 2000 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL. She earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University in 2006.
CDR Dutily completed her initial division officer tour and earned her Surface Warfare Officer qualification aboard USS JOHN YOUNG (DD 973) homeported in San Diego, CA, serving as Gunnery and Strike Officer. In 2002 she assumed duties as the pre-commissioning Training Officer aboard USS MUSTIN (DDG 89) built in Pascagoula, MS, and subsequently homeported in San Diego, CA.
During her shore tour in 2004, CDR Dutily served as N333 Current Surface Operations and later as administrative assistant to Deputy Chief of Staff N3/N5 at U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, VA.
As a Department Head from 2007-2010, she served as Operations Officer aboard USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51), and followed on to USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56), both homeported in Norfolk, VA.
Following her department head tours in 2010, CDR Dutily transferred to Maritime Civil Affairs and Security Training (MCAST) Command in Dam Neck, VA, serving as Operations Officer and later as Director of Training. Her subsequent tour was at Afloat Training Group Norfolk, VA serving as a Tactical Action Officer (TAO) mentor/evaluator. Her most recent tour from 2013-2015 was serving as Deputy Executive Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, VA.
CDR Dutily reported to USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79) in Norfolk, VA as Executive Officer in March 2016.
Her personal decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
