CMDCM(SS) Michael T. Kelly Command Master Chief

Master Chief Kelly is a native of Philadelphia PA. He graduated from Lake Brantley High School in May 1987 and enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 1988.
After completing his initial training he reported to his first submarine, USS Techumseh (SSBN 628) (GOLD) home ported in Charleston, SC, in April of 1990.
During this tour, he completed three deployments, earned his dolphins and was advanced to Second Class Petty Officer. He detached in January of 1992. Upon completing his first sea tour, he received training at San Diego, CA and reported to USS TENNESSEE (SSBN 734) (GOLD). He was advanced to First Class Petty Officer and detached in September of 1996.
In September 1996, he reported to SWFLANT, Kings Bay, GA and was assigned as the Key Control Officer and Electronic Security Systems Leading Petty Officer. He transferred to the USS TENNESSEE (SSBN 734) (BLUE) in July of 1999. During this tour he was assigned as Leading Petty Officer of Sonar Division and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
He reported to USS LOUISIANNA (SSBN 743) (GOLD) as the Leading Chief Petty Officer of Sonar Division in December of 2001. During this tour he served as the Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. In February of 2005 he reported to the staff of Commander Submarine Squadron Twenty. In March of 2008 he reported to his fifth submarine, USS WYOMING (SSBN 742) (GOLD) as the Chief of the Boat and was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer. He has completed 23 Strategic Deterrent Patrols.
Master Chief Kelly’s personal decorations include the Enlisted Submarine Warfare Insignia, Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle Efficiency “E” Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (six awards), National Defense Service Medal (two awards), Global War on Terrorism Service medal, Navy Expert Pistol Medal, Navy Expert Rifle Medal.
