Commander Zoah Scheneman
CDR Zoah Scheneman began his Surface Warfare career enlisting in 1987. He spent 9 years as an Operations Specialist, attaining the rank of First Class Petty Officer. During his enlistments he served in USS WISCONSIN (BB-64) deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield and Storm, USS ANZIO (CG-68), and Commander Carrier Group EIGHT, deployed as the THEODORE ROOSEVELT Battle Group.
Following his commission in 1996 through the Seaman-to-Admiral program, attending Officer Candidate School and initial Division Officer training, he reported as Gunnery Officer and Ship’s Training Officer in USS BRISCOE (DD-977). Deployed to the CENTCOM AOR in 1998, he served as a Boarding Officer enforcing U.N. Sanctions through Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS).
In 2000 he attended Old Dominion University and completed a Bachelors of Science Degree, Information Systems.
In 2004 after completing Department Head training he reported as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer, in USS MCFAUL (DDG-74) and deployed twice to the CENTCOM AOR.
He then was assigned as a student at U.S. Naval War College, College of Naval Command and Staff. While there he conducted advanced research as a member of Halsey Group Charlie in Theater Ballistic Missile Defense.
In 2007 he reported as Deputy Director Operational Concept Development, AEGIS Ballistic Missile Defense, Missile Defense Agency, Dahlgren Virginia and detached in 2011.
After completing the PXO/PCO pipeline CDR Scheneman reported to USS MAHAN (DDG-72) in January of 2012 as part of the XO/CO Fleet Up program and completed a tour as Executive Officer in April of 2013 before taking Command.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
