CMDCM(SW/FMF) Tyrone WillisCommand Master Chief

Command Master Chief Willis, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1985. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Illinois, where he completed Hospital Corpsman “A” School. Upon graduation, he reported for duty at Naval Hospital Millington, TN; and was designated as a National Emergency Medical Technician.
His fleet assignments include Alpha Company, 2nd Medical Battalion, Second Force Service Support, Camp Lejeune, NC; MSSG-24 (USS FAIRFAX COUNTY - LST 1193 & USS GUAM – LPH 9), Second Force Service Support, Camp Lejeune, NC; Headquarters Battalion, Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC; 2ND Battalion 10TH Marines, Second Marine Division, Camp LeJeune, NC; USS JUNEAU (LPD 10), Sasebo, Japan; and deployed to EMF Kuwait. In addition, Command Master Chief Willis completed shore assignments at Naval Hospital Millington, TN; BUPERS, Millington, TN; and Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan. He participated in Operation DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM - 1st Battalion 8th Marines, Second Marines Division, Camp LeJeune, NC; STRONG RESOLVE – USS WASP (LHD 1); ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM – USS JUNEAU.
Command Master Chief Willis graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 146 and the CMC/COB Course with the 9580 designation. In August 2009, he reported to Naval Hospital Beaufort as Command Master Chief in Beaufort, South Carolina. In February 2012, he reported to his current assignment as Command Master Chief for the USS ROSS (DDG 71) in Norfolk, VA.
Additionally, he graduated from Field Medical Service School and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare and Fleet Marine Force designations.
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and various unit and campaign awards.
