CMDCM(SW/AW/EXW/IDW/FPJ) Larry H. Dean
Command Master Chief
Command Master Chief Larry H. Dean is a native of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and a 1986 graduate of Laurel High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 1st, 1986 and completed recruit training in Orlando, Florida.
Master Chief Dean’s challenging and successful sea and Naval Special Warfare tours include, Command Master Chief, USS COLE (DDG 67), Senior Enlisted Leader, Naval Special Warfare Development Group, and Senior Enlisted Advisor to Commander, Joint Special Operations Command, General Stanley McChrystal, in Ramadi, Iraq. His overseas assignments were to Naval Security Group Activity, Adak, Alaska and two tours of duty at Naval Support Facility, Diego Garcia.
His shore tours were to Naval Security Group Activity, Winter Harbor, Maine, Naval Security Group, Norfolk, and Tactical Cryptologic Support (TCS) to SEAL TEAM’s TWO, FOUR, and TEN.
Master Chief Dean earned the Master Training Specialist (MTS), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS), Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist (EAWS), Expeditionary Warfare (EXW), Information Dominance Warfare (IDW), Freefall Navy Parachutist (FPJ), and Basic Parachute (PJ).
Master Chief Dean is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 157, where he was recognized as the honor graduate for displaying the highest military excellence and leadership. He is also a graduate of the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course. His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal with “V”, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal (4), Combat Action Ribbon (2), the Presidential Unit Citation, and several other campaign and unit awards.
