Master Chief Jon Lonsdale is a native of San Diego, California. He joined the Navy on October 2, 1996 and attended boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. After completion of recruit training in January of 1996, he reported to Electronics Technician “A” School, also in Great Lakes with follow on orders to AN/SPS-40E RADAR “C” School, Norfolk, Virginia.

Master Chief Lonsdale’s fleet assignments include USS Spruance (DD 963) July 1998 – February 2002; UHF Systems and Basic Instructor Training Norfolk, Virginia. February – June 2002; Carrier Tactical Support Center Ashore (CV-TSC) Mobile Training Team June 2002 – June 2005; AN/WSN-7B “C” School CSCS Dam Neck, Virginia June - July 2005; USS Simpson (FFG 56) July 2005 – October 2008; Afloat Training Group (ATG) Mayport, Florida October 2008 – April 2012; USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG 58) June 2012 – January 2013; and USS Carney (DDG 64) February 2013 - present.

In February 2012, Lonsdale was selected for the Command Master Chief (CMC) Program and completed the CMC/Chief of the Boat (COB) capstone course in June 2012.

Lonsdale is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 166 and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Excelsior College, Albany, New York. Additionally, he is a qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, and Afloat Training Specialist.

His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
