Lieutenant Commander Joel Lang Executive Officer

Lieutenant Commander Joel Lang a native of Agoura Calif. graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and was commissioned through the NROTC program.

Sea duty assignments include: Strike Officer in USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) (1998-2001); Fire Control Officer in USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57) (2001-2002); Weapons Officer in USS CAPE ST GEORGE (CG 71) (2005-2006); Commanding Officer, Patrol Coastal CREW KILO in USS HURRICANE (PC 3) and in USS TYPHOON (PC 5) (2007-2008); and Assistant Surface Operations/Future Plans Officer in Commander Carrier Strike Group EIGHT (2010-2012).

Ashore, LCDR Lang attended the Naval Postgraduate School, in Monterey Calif., earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) and completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I (2004); he served as the Flag Aide/Deputy Executive Assistant to Deputy Commander, US Fleet Forces Command (2008-2010); and attended the Joint Forces Staff College, in Norfolk Va. where he completed JPME PH II (2010).

LCDR Lang is currently onboard USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) where he is serving as Executive Officer.

LCDR Lang is married to the former Jenna-Ruth McGuire of Woodbridge, Va.  The Lang’s have three children.
