CDR Nathaniel Brown
Commander Nathaniel “Nate” Brown was born in Baltimore, MD in 1976. He is a 1994 graduate of Culver Military Academy and a 1998 graduate of Virginia Tech where he earned a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and was commissioned through the NROTC program. CDR Brown has earned Master's Degrees from Troy State University (International Relations) and the U.S. Naval War College (National Security and Strategic Studies).
Sea Duty assignments include: Damage Control Assistant in USS ELROD (FFG 55) stationed in Norfolk, VA from Spring 1999 through Spring 2001; Navigator in USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64) stationed in Mayport, FL from Spring 2001 through Fall 2002; Chief Engineer in USS PORTER (DDG 78) stationed in Norfolk, VA from Spring 2006 through Summer 2007; and Chief Engineer in USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56) in Norfolk, VA from Summer 2007 through Spring 2009. Deployments have taken CDR Brown and his shipmates throughout the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Black Seas.
Shore Duty assignments include: NROTC Instructor at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA from Fall 2002 to Winter 2004; Branch Head within the Navy Irregular Warfare Office (OPNAV N3N5 IW) at the Pentagon from Spring 2009 to Spring 2011; Student at U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI from Summer 2011 to Fall 2012; and Operational Planner at U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/Commander Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain from Fall 2012 to Fall 2013.
CDR Brown currently serves as Executive Officer in USS RAMAGE (DDG 61).
