CDR Dave Stoner
A native of Ansonia Connecticut, CDR Stoner enlisted in the Navy in 1986 following high school graduation. Upon completion of Machinist Mate “A” School and the nuclear power training pipeline he served aboard the USS SKIPJACK (SSN-585), USS PROVIDENCE (SSN-719) and PCU SEAWOLF (SSN-21). In 1995, then Chief Petty Officer Stoner, was commissioned at Officer Candidate School Pensacola FL, under the Seaman to Admiral program during its inaugural year.
Following initial training, then CDR Stoner reported to the USS HUE CITY (CG-66) for duty as the Damage Control Assistant and later Air Defense Officer. His next assignment was as Combat Information Center Officer in USS MOOSBRUGGER (DD-980).
Following his Division Officer tours CDR Stoner attended the University of North Florida where he graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. After Department Head training, he successfully completed tours as the Operations Officer in USS CARNEY (DDG-64) and USS HUE CITY (CG-66).
CDR Stoner advanced his education at the Naval War College earning a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies as well as completing Joint Professional Military Education Phase I.
Ashore CDR Stoner served at United States Strategic Command’s Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations (JTF-GNO) which later became United States Cyber Command. During this assignment he served as a Computer Network Operations Planner in both the Current Operations and Contingency Planning directorates.
CDR Stoner’s personal awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, five awards, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, five awards, along with various other personal and unit citations.
