Commander Monika W. Stoker
Commanding Officer USS MITSCHER (DDG 57)
Commander Monika Washington Stoker is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. She was commissioned in 1995 after graduating from the United States Naval Academy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ocean Engineering.
Her first assignment was in USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) where she served as 3rd Division Officer in Deck Department and finished her tour as the Engineering Training Officer. CDR Stoker then served as the Fire Control Officer and later the Weapons Control Officer in USS COLE (DDG 67). Upon completion of Department Head School in 2002, she reported to the USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51) as Weapons Control Officer and fleeted-up to Combat Systems Officer.
Ashore, she reported to the United States Naval Academy as the Summer Training Coordinator in the Professional Programs Division and as a Naval Leadership Instructor in 2000. And finally in 2006, she served as the Future Operations Officer at Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, responsible for Global Force Management in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
CDR Stoker reported to MITSCHER in June 2010 as the Executive Officer and assumed command February 2012.
