Commander Nathan P. Diaz
Executive Officer

Commander Nathan Diaz enlisted in the Navy as an Electronics Technician in 1988. After advancing to Electronics Technician First Class, he was accepted to the Enlisted Commissioning Program and attended the University of Minnesota from 1998 to 2000, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the United States Navy and attended SWOS.

CDR Diaz served as 1st Lieutenant, then Ordnance Officer onboard USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61), followed
by Navigator onboard USS McFAUL (DDG 74).
 
CDR Diaz was accepted to the Graduate Education Voucher program and transferred to AFLOAT
TRAINING GROUP, NORFOLK VA, where he served as a Training Liaison Officer.  While at ATG
he earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Old Dominion University. 
       
Upon completion of the Surface Warfare Officer Department Head Course he reported as Chief Engineer onboard USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75).
 
From December 2009 to April 2011 he served as Commanding Officer of PATROL COASTAL CREW INDIA.  CREW INDIA participated in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM/Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation NEW DAWN in the North Arabian Gulf, conducting, Maritime Interception Operations in the vicinity of Iraq.  While with CREW INDIA he commanded USS MONSOON (PC 4), USS CHINOOK (PC 9), USS SQUALL (PC 7), and USS TEMPEST (PC 2). Following his tour with CREW INDIA he transferred to CARRIER STRIKE GROUP EIGHT as the Assistant Chief of Staff Officer for Material and Logistics and Project Officer for the Material Standards Assessment Group for COMMANDER NAVAL SURFACES FORCES ATLANTIC.  CDR Diaz most recently served as Executive Assistant for COMMANDER MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.
 
CDR Diaz’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (5 awards), the COMNAVSURFOR Navy and Marine Corps Leadership Award and other unit and campaign awards.
