Commander Daniel E. Broadhurst
CDR Broadhurst is a native of New England. He received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) at the University of Florida in Gainesville in December 1998. He graduated from the Surface Warfare Officer School Division Officer Course before reporting to his first sea duty assignment.
CDR Broadhurst served as Communications Officer in USS KLAKRING (FFG 42) in Norfolk, Virginia and Mayport, FL. His next assignment was as Main Propulsion Assistant in USS VICKSBURG (CG 69), participating in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM with the JOHN F KENNEDY Strike Group.
Following his division officer tours, he was selected for the Navy Washington DC Intern Program where he served at OPNAV Strategy and Concepts (N513), The Joint Staff J-5 Strategic Concepts, and Political-Military Affairs Bureau at the Department of State.
In his first department head tour, CDR Broadhurst served as Chief Engineer in USS COLE (DDG 67), deploying to the 5th Fleet as part of the IWO JIMA Expeditionary Strike Group.
In 2007, CDR Broadhurst reported to San Diego for his second department head tour as Warfare Readiness Officer in COMDESRON 23.
