Master Chief Hineman is a native of Lithia Springs, GA and a 1993 graduate of Lithia Springs High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1999 and completed Basic Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL and graduated in April 2000 from Operations Specialist "A" school in Dam Neck, VA.

Master Chief Hineman served his initial sea tour on USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52) homeported in San Diego, CA from April 2000 to June 2005. While stationed on "Vertical Swordsmen", he completed three 7th/5th Fleet Deployments supporting Operation's UNIFIED ASSISTANCE, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM. During this tour he qualified as Air Intercept Controller, Tactical Data Link Coordinator, Combat Information Center Watch Officer, Interface Control Officer, and Anti-Air Warfare Coordinator. Additionally, during this tour he advanced to First Class Petty Officer.

Master Chief Hineman transferred to Naval Recruiting District Seattle, WA in June 2005. During this tour he qualified as Zone Supervisor and successfully led the Midwest Zone in central Seattle and was selected to join the Chief’s mess.

Master Chief Hineman’s next tour was on USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), homeported in Everett, WA and served as Operations Intelligence Division LCPO and Operations Department LCPO. He qualified as Tactical Action Officer and completed two 7th/5th Fleet Deployments supporting Operation’s IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. During this tour he was promoted to Senior and Master Chief Petty Officer and received the 2011 John C. Stennis Leadership Award.

Master Chief Hineman reported to Afloat Training Group Western Pacific in September 2013 and assumed the duties as Command Senior Enlisted Leader from January 2014 through October 2015.

Master Chief Hineman assumed the duties as Command Master Chief, USS BARRY (DDG 52) in November 2015.

Master Chief Hineman is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 187) and the CMC/COB Course (Class 150).

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit campaign awards.
