Master Chief Charles Jones is a native of South Carolina. He enlisted in the Navy in December 1987 and completed recruit training and Radioman "A" school at Naval Technical Center, San Diego, CA.

Master Chief Jones first reported to USS Milwaukee (AOR 2) in Norfolk, VA. His subsequent fleet assignments include USS Puget Sound (AD 38) Operation Desert Storm; USS Chosin (CG 65) Maritime Interception duties; USS Briscoe (DD 977) Operation IRAQI Freedom and Decommissioning Crew; USS Tortuga (LSD 46) Hurricane Katrina and Rita; USS FT McHenry (LSD 43) Hull Swap; Senior Enlisted Advisor CCSG10 embarked onboard USS Harry S Truman (CVN 75) Operation Enduring Freedom and New Dawn. Master Chief Jones is currently serving as Command Master Chief of USS Barry (DDG 52).

Master Chief Jones’ isolated duty tours include, Tech Control Operator for NAVCOMTELSTA Diego Garcia.

His shore duty assignments include Sewells Point Branch Medical Clinic Norfolk VA; Joint Interoperability Test Command Indian Head MD; Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force Norfolk VA.

He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy class (149/Green) and Command Master Chief course.

Master Chief Jones’ personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (5 awards), National Defense Medal (2 awards), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Kuwait/Saudia Arabia liberation Medal as well as various unit, campaign and personal awards.
