Command Master Chief
CMDCM(SW/SG/AW/IDW) Jessee Hess was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He enlisted in the delayed entry program in August, 1992 and upon graduation from Heritage Jr/Sr High School in June 1993, he reported for active duty at Recruit Training Command in Orland, Florida. After completing boot camp, Master Chief Hess reported to Cryptologic Technician Technical ‘A’ School at Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida. He attended the Classic Wizard ‘C’ School at Naval Security Group Activity Winter Harbor, Maine.
In August of 1994, Master Chief Hess reported to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Command Diego Garcia working as a Classic Wizard evaluator/reporter. In August 1995, reported to Naval Security Group Detachment Denver, Colorado where he worked as an evaluator/reporter supervisor. In August of 1998, Master Chief Hess reported to the USS JOHN F KENNEDY (CV-67) in Mayport, Florida where he served as an Operational Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) analyst and completed a Persian Gulf deployment. In January 1999, he attended the Battle Force ELINT Analyst course at Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida.
In July 2001, CMDCM Hess reported to the Naval Security Group Activity, Fort Meade, Maryland serving as a MESAP student. While stationed there, participated in panels at National Security Agency (NSA), White Sands Missile Range, Alamogordo, New Mexico, National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC), Charlottesville, Virginia and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Langley, Virginia. Master Chief Hess was advanced to Chief in September 2003 and in May 2005 received an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from Anne Arundel Community College. In July 2004, reported to the Central Intelligence Agency, Langley, Virginia where he served as a Technical ELINT analyst.
In October 2007, reported to Naval Intelligence Operations Command, Kunia, Hawaii serving as a Direct Support Element LCPO and Electronic Support Measures Supervisor on theatre deployed submarines. While stationed at Kunia, CMDCM Hess deployed on the USS PASADENA (SSN-752), USS COLUMBUS (SSN-762), USS BREMERTON (SSN-698), USS CONNECTICUT (SSN-22), USS KEY WEST (SSN-722), & USS LOUISVILLE (SSN-724). In October 2010, attended Recruit Division Commander School at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon graduation, Master Chief Hess reported to the United States Naval Academy as the 11th Company & 3rd Battalion Senior Enlisted Leader and was promoted to Senior Chief in June 2011. He received a Bachelor in Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies from Liberty University during the summer of 2011 and in April 2014 he graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 179). In May of 2014, he was promoted to Master Chief and in June 2014 he reported to the USS GEORGE H W BUSH (CVN 77), serving as the OS Division LCPO.
In March 2015, Master Chief Hess was selected for the Command Master Chief program and currently serves as the CMC of USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG-51) out of Norfolk, VA.
Chief Hess’ awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation (three awards), Joint Service Achievement (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement (three awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and other various unit and service awards.
