Commander John Hamilton
Commander John Hamilton is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated from the Citadel in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
After commissioning, Commander Hamilton served his Division Officer tours in USS DOYLE (FFG 39) and USS SENTRY (MCM 3). He then reported to the United States Naval Academy, where he taught in the Seamanship and Navigation Department. He earned his Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
After completing Department Head School, Commander Hamilton served as the commissioning Engineering Officer in USS STOCKDALE (DDG 106) and then as Engineering Officer in USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG 71).
Commander Hamilton then reported to the Pentagon where he was the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Director, Navy Staff.
He returned to sea and reported to USS PRINCETON (CG 59) as XO. Upon completion, he reported to Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Amphibious Division in Little Creek as the N5.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various campaign and service awards.
