MCPO(SW/AW) Michael G. Carbone
Command Master Chief
Command Master Chief Carbone is a native of Akron, Ohio. He graduated from North High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in January 1992.
He completed recruit basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois followed by Airman Apprenticeship School and reported for his first sea tour aboard USS America (CV-66) stationed in Norfolk, VA. During his tour he was assigned to the V-1 Flight Deck Division where he served in Operations Deliberate Force, Restore Hope, Uphold Democracy and Southern Watch. In August 1995 he attended ABH "C" School, NATTC Memphis, TN.
Other operational assignments include, USS Nassau (LHA 4) Crash and Salvage LPO, where he qualified Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), Air Department and USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) as Flight Deck Leading Chief Petty Officer and Aircraft Handling Officer.
His previous shore tours include NAS Brunswick, ME, Air Operations, Naval Support Activity La Maddalena Sardinia, Italy as the Command Fire Marshall and most recently as the Brigade Master Chief and Senior Enlisted Leader for the Commandant of Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy.
He completed five shipboard deployments to the 5th and 6th Fleet AORs in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Maritime Security Operations and Operation Odyssey Dawn.
In February 2016 he was selected to the Command Master Chief program. In June of 2016 he reported aboard USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) as the Command Master Chief.
Command Master Chief Carbone is a graduate of the Louis F Garland Fire Academy, Recruit Division Commander Course, U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 155 -Gold) and Command Leadership, CMC/COB Course (Class 159).
His personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
