Commander Michael William Meredith
Commanding Officer
Commander Meredith grew up in Caro, Michigan, received his commission from the United States Naval Academy in 1995 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. During his senior year, he also attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he subsequently earned a Masters degree in Computer Science. Additionally, he completed the Navy's nuclear power training program.
His initial sea tour was in USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55), where he served as Communications Officer. His second division officer tour was as Reactor Controls Division Officer in USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74). Following shore duty, he completed his first department head as Operations Officer in USS HOWARD (DDG 68). He then served as Reactor Training Assistant and Assistant Reactor Officer in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). His most recent sea tour was in USS JASON DUNHAM (DDG109) as Executive Officer. He has completed deployments in support of 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleet operations.
CDR Meredith's shore tours include the University of Notre Dame, where he served as an instructor in the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program; the Navy Personnel Command, where he served as the Surface Nuclear Community Manager; and most recently at the NATO Joint Forces Command, Brunssum, Netherlands, where he served in Future Plans in support of coalition efforts in Afghanistan.
CDR Meredith's awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards. CDR Meredith is also a recipient of The Arleigh Burke and Newport County Leadership awards.
