Commander Kevin J. Hoffman
A native of St. Marys, Pennsylvania, CDR Hoffman graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997 with a B.S. in Computer Science and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps.
At sea, CDR Hoffman served as Strike Warfare Officer in Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) O’KANE, and continued to serve as Strike Warfare Officer, First Lieutenant, and Navigator in USS O’KANE (DDG 77) from 1998 to 2002. CDR Hoffman later served as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) from 2005 to 2008.
Ashore, CDR Hoffman participated in the Navy Washington DC Internship Program (NWIP) from 2002 to 2004, with rotations in the Joint Staff (J4), OPNAV (DEEP BLUE), and OSD. He also attended The George Washington University and earned a M.A. in Organizational Management. Upon return to shore duty, he served as Assistant Deputy Director and Deputy Director, Flag Officer Management and Distribution (N00F) in Washington, DC, from 2008 to 2011. CDR Hoffman was then assigned to the Joint Staff, J-5, Deputy Directorate for Trans-Regional Policy from 2011 to 2013, where he served in the Missile Defense, Cyber, and Maritime Security Policy Divisions.
CDR Hoffman reported to USS JASON DUNHAM (DDG 109) as Executive Officer in February 2014, and became the Commanding Officer in December 2015.
Commander Hoffman’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Joint Service Achievement Medal; Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
